On Friday afternoons, children in key stage 1 and key stage 2 are given the opportunity to participate in an enrichment activity, and children in the Early Years benefit from being supported by some year six children at this time of the week. Enrichment sessions take place within year group cohorts and may be led by the class teacher or a different member of staff.
Each half term a range of activities, or an ongoing project, is planned for the children, which could involve anything from sports to art and crafts, to performing arts and music. Activities are often seasonal / linked to current events and enable children to apply skills from the National Curriculum. Some recent activities include ukulele, boxercise, sewing, chess, painting and ICT challenges.
Our much-loved enrichment programme – enjoyed by children and staff alike – offers many benefits. Sessions are designed so that the children can take ownership of tasks through collaboration with peers and independence. It is a time when the children learn new skills, share their expertise, develop new interests, and build confidence, in a relaxed, fun and vibrant learning atmosphere.
