Pupil Premium 2023/2024
At The Avenue Primary, we have high aspirations and ambitions for our children and we believe that no child should be left behind. We strongly believe that it is not about your background but your passion and thirst for knowledge, and your dedication and commitment to learning that make the difference between success and failure, and we are determined to ensure that our children are given every chance to realise their full potential. Pupil Premium funding for this academic year totals £94,290 and below outlines how we will ensure it is spent to maximum effect.
Our Pupil Premium money has been used to provide a range of additional support for our children and these interventions have had a significant impact on children’s attainment.
Although not all Pupil Premium children reached expected standard at the end of Year 6 they still made good progress. Others factors such as SEN and mobility also must be considered (see reported outcomes for KS2).
Our key objective in using the Pupil Premium Grant is to narrow the gap between pupil groups. As a school we have a good track record of ensuring that pupils make good progress, but historically levels of attainment are lower for FSM (eligible for free school meals) – this is also a national trend.
Through targeted intervention, we are working to eliminate barriers to learning and progress. Children who start school with low attainment on entry are targeted to receive targeted support through termly action plans to ensure that they make accelerated progress in order to reach age related expectations and as they move through the school. Money has also been spent on additional IT software to allow a different avenue to learning.
Targeted support is being provided through one-to-one and small group tuition in all year groups and additional support is targeted at classes with a significant percentage of pupils entitled to the Pupil Premium Grant.
We hope that Parents and Carers recognise the difference additional support and resources make.
