Our Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) coordinator is Mrs Owens, supported by Mr Hunter. Our Support staff work with children who are identified as having SEND needs as in-class support, with small groups and sometimes on a 1 to 1 basis.
The Avenue School has always been committed to recognising Special Educational Needs. All children have individual needs, but some children may experience difficulties with particular aspects of the curriculum, and other children may be very high achievers who need more individually tailored programmes of study. We liaise with Craig Small from Real World Psychology, who offers specialist support and advice regarding children with additional needs. Our commitment will continue and parents who are concerned about their children in this area should consult with their child’s teacher in the first instance.
To contact the school regarding a SEND query please use the school email address avenueprimary@mcschools.org.uk
If you have any concerns about your child regarding special educational needs and disabilities, please complete the SEND cause for concern form and return to Mrs Owens at the school office.
